The University of Utah will welcome eleven Vice Chancellors from a diverse range of Pakistan’s universities to learn more about the best practices of top-tier U.S. research institutions. The group will tour the U campus and meet with university representatives and Utah government officials the week of July 18 before continuing their tour in Washington D.C.

Islamabad : A galaxy of vice chancellors (VCs) representing 15 partner universities of the USAID-funded Higher Education Strengthening Activity (HESSA) project being implemented by the University of Utah and its partners converged in the capital the other day for exchange of ideas on how to strengthen strategic planning in a bid to achieve higher standards of institutional performance in the country’s Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The USAID-funded Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) concluded a three-day workshop designed for Women’s Leadership in Higher Education here on Wednesday. The course ended with presentation of certificates to as many as thirty women faculty drawn from 15 HESSA partner universities and comprising a fine mix of lecturers, assistant professors and department chairs wearing additional hats as administrators, financial experts, and management and academic affairs.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the government of Pakistan, launched a $19 million, five-year programme here Thursday to improve Pakistan’s higher education system and increase the employability of university graduates.

The Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) organized a panel discussion on ‘Women and Higher Education in Pakistan – Agents of Change’ to commemorate International Women’s Day. The objective of the themes event was to highlight women’s current and future roles in higher education in Pakistan, with a focus on recognizing their important contributions as decision-makers, stakeholders, experts, and educators across all levels.

USAID’s Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) project has been inaugurated at the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST). HESSA is a project of the governments of the United States and Pakistan, launched from the platform of USAID. The project aims to reinforce the country’s higher education system by capacity building of HEIs. Launched in October 2021, the five-year project will serve as an impetus to enhance graduate employability and improve relevance, adequacy and inclusivity vis-à-vis the higher education ecosystem of Pakistan. HESSA’s approach hinges upon engaging a wide array of stakeholders to introduce feasible, relevant, viable and sustainable reforms.

An inaugural stakeholders’ consultative meeting organized under the auspices of the five-year USAID-funded Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) project concluded at Marriott here on Wednesday.

The two-day event, titled ‘Building Strategic Alliances,’ comprised a gathering of senior representatives of public sector Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from across all provinces of Pakistan.
